Under this programme  working mathematicians specialized in specific currently active research areas meet at KSOM and carry out research and work on specific problems for duration of two to three weeks. Research workshops at KSOM are designed to promote in house research activity at KSOM towards developing the institute as a centre for research in certain core areas of mathematics.

Operator Systems is a currently active area of research which comes under the broad area of Functional analysis and operator algebras.
